Writers in Kyoto Annual Poetry Reading, Plus Jazz June 24

It will feature jazz accompanying the Kansai region’s many talented poets who are gathering at the The Gnome, at Nijo Kawaramachi in Kyoto  (For map see here.)

Happy to say that I, Sydney Solis, am master of ceremonies, humble poet that I am. I hope you join us!

Members free, non-members ¥500.

Doors open 6.30 – 9.00 pub closes.

First set: 7.00- 7.30 (Five poets, with a special shakuhachi feature)

Second set: 8.00-8.30 (Five poets, with a special haiku/sax improv feature)

Amongst WiK’s galaxy of poets are Mark Richardson, James Woodham, Mayumi Kawaharada, Ken Rodgers and intern Andrew Sokulis, with a special reading by Robert Yellin and a selection of AJ Dickinson. It also features top improv musician, Gary Tegler and shakuhachi master, Preston Houser.

After this Osaka earthquake, it should be interesting, considering that poetry is on the rise in the United States , Japan and the world!
